Around 1990, Jean-Pascal Imsand was one of the great talents of Swiss photography and he was also attracting attention internationally. A tireless seeker who set high standards for himself, he possessed a marked sensitivity with regard to the abysses that open up behind the facades of normality.
Alongside his reportage and portraits for publications like Du or Das Magazin, Imsand also devoted himself to personal projects. Taken from the building he lived in, this view of Limmatstrasse, the main artery of Zurich’s District 5, is part of a wide-ranging portrait of the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, this book project remained unfinished, due to Imsand’s very premature death.
