After establishing himself as a fashion photographer in London during the seventies, Barnabás Bosshart moved to Maranhão, in north-eastern Brazil. There, he spent years striving to document various facets of Brazilian reality.
This view, looking over a banister at cyclists in the Chinese city of Liuzhou, is further evidence, for once not from Brazil, of Bosshart’s urge to explore different worlds. This is a work rich in contrasts, which very visually and poetically unites the near and the distant, stillness and motion, the lasting and the fleeting.
