In addition to individual photographers’ archives, Fotostiftung Schweiz also takes charge of selected archives from companies, organisations or private individuals if they are of particular interest from a photographic or cultural-historical perspective.
Company archives sometimes contain unique photographic documents created by photographers on behalf of a firm; archives from press companies and publishing houses or thematically oriented organisations are important sources for understanding the medium in a contemporary historical context; and private archives provide revealing insight into the various uses of photography.
