Having attended photography school in Vevey, Martin Glaus worked as a photojournalist after the war. Numerous examples of his photo-reportage, with texts that he wrote himself, appeared in various Swiss magazines and newspapers. Later, he increasingly devoted himself to literature.
Alongside press photography, Glaus kept producing independent works as well, underpinned by high aesthetic standards and tranquil poeticism. This picture shows his preference for scenes in which the magic of light could unfold mysteriously and evocatively – scenes of night and twilight, masterfully pictured, which brought Martin Glaus acclaim beyond Switzerland’s borders.
