Photographer Monique Jacot from Romandy, whose archive has been maintained by Fotostiftung Schweiz since 2010, was awarded the prestigious Swiss Grand Prix of Design in 2020 for her rich oeuvre that is situated between photojournalism and independent artwork. 

 

This picture was taken as part of Jacot’s documentary work about Women of the Land. It shows a tail-fanning turkey from behind. The powerful motif of the fanned-out feathers prevails over the grid structures in the rear and makes them take a back seat – an abstraction that detaches itself from reality, conveying a sense of lightness, pride and freedom.
