Kulturnacht Winterthur
At the Fotostiftung Schweiz, discover the artistic and technical dimensions of light in a guided tour of the exhibition Roger Humbert – Images to Engage the Mind with the exhibition’s curator Lars Willumeit. The guided tours take place at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
At Fotomuseum Winterthur, explore the current exhibition The Lure of the Image and discover the work of 42 emerging international talents at Plat(t)form 2025, taking place alongside the exhibition. From 8:30 pm onwards, DJ Fliegerová will transform the foyer into a soundspace filled with spacious soundtracks, bold beats and colourful disco notes. Let yourself be surprised, seduced and inspired by culture and embark on a journey of discovery through Winterthur.

Kulturnacht Winterthur – Kuratorenführung
Die Führungen finden jeweils um 18:30 und 19:30 statt.
Bis ins hohe Alter hinein erforschte Roger Humbert das Licht und lotete die Grenzen des Fotografischen aus. Nachts experimentierte er in seinem Basler Atelier mit Schablonen, Rastern und Prismen, während er tagsüber als gefragter Werbefotograf arbeitete.
Die Ausstellung eröffnet den Blick auf das Doppelleben dieses bedeutenden Schweizer Fotopioniers, dessen Schaffen rund 70 Jahre umspannt. Zu sehen sind neben seinen eindrücklichen Fotogrammen, Luminogrammen und späteren digitalen Lichtaufzeichnungen auch Fotografien, die auf Reisen nach Italien, in die Niederlande, nach China oder in Basel entstanden sind.

Camera Obscura – Back to the Origins of Photography, for families (Fully booked)
In this workshop, participants will explore the phenomenon of the camera obscura. They will experiment with pinhole cameras and expose their own motifs outdoors, which will then be developed in the black-and-white photo lab. The resulting negatives and positives are theirs to take home with them.
The workshop is designed as a family workshop. All persons, children and adults, require their own ticket.
Age: suitable for all age groups (children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult), no previous knowledge necessary.
Duration: 2.5 hours

Cyanotype – The Classic Blueprint Process
The workshop requires a digital negative – either a scanned negative or a digitally inverted photograph. Participants will be contacted in advance by email and asked to send in such a digital negative or a normal digital image, which will then be processed by the workshop leader. Black and white images with clear contrast gradations are best suited, fine grey gradients are only roughly reproduced.
Age: from 16 years, no previous knowledge necessary
Duration: 4.5 hours

Photogram – Creating with Light, for families (Fully booked)
Light reflections, shadow plays, pin sharp silhouettes and superimpositions: Photograms are images that are created in the darkroom without a camera. All that is needed is light, photographic paper and liquids to develop the images. With the help of creative ideas and different materials such as figurines, stencils or various objects interesting image compositions are created.
The workshop is designed as a family workshop. All persons, children and adults, require their own ticket.
